Nunavut is the biggest and newest territory of Canada before it was a part of the Northwest Territories but was officially separated on April 1, 1999. Nunavut means “our land” in Inuktitut it is a major portion of Northern Canada, it is the fifth-largest country subdivision in the world. The capital of the Yukon is Iqaluit on Baffin Island.
